SECRC Executive Secretary-Treasurer Tom Jenkins welcomes members of Millwright Locals 1192, 1263, and 1554 into our Council. Following is a message from EST Jenkins, followed by a letter from UBC General President Douglas McCarron.
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
On behalf of the Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council (SECRC), it is my distinct honor and privilege to welcome our fellow brother and sister members from Millwright Local Unions 1192, 1263 and 1554.
Current members of Local Union 1192 with membership in Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle are now serviced by the SECRC. Current members of Local Union 1263 with membership in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are now serviced by the SECRC. Current members of Local Union 1554 with membership in Tennessee are now serviced by the SECRC.
I am honored to serve as your Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the Regional Council, and I am extremely optimistic regarding the opportunities that exist within our expanded geographical area. The new Regional Council footprint currently has more than nine thousand one hundred (9,100) UBC members who, collectively, will produce about ten million (10M) worked hours annually.
I understand that with change comes many questions, concerns, and unknowns. Please know that I am available personally, as well as the Regional Council leadership team to address your specific needs.
I kindly ask for your patience during this transition period to ensure a pleasant transition for every new member. To lay a good foundation for this process, the Regional Council’s leadership and I urge you to attend 1 of 3 informational meetings to be held at 3 of our Local Union Halls.
You will receive information about the dates, times, and location of these meetings soon. Please plan to attend one of them. In the meantime, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Regional Council office at (706) 854-8777 or awills@secarpenters.org.
I am eager to meet and work with each one of you to ensure a successful transition into our Regional Council. We are dedicated to protecting our members and raising standards for you and your families.
Fraternally yours,
Thomas H. Jenkins
Executive Secretary/Treasurer
Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council
